Brave Bites Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
Brave Bites is made by ProposalOak ("we", "us"), an iPhone app that helps parents of picky eaters. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: your children's names, foods and progress stay on your phone, plate photos are sent once to recognize the foods and are never stored on our servers, there are no accounts or sign-ups, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.
What stays on your phone
Your children's first names, ages and colors, the foods you track, every logged try, stars, outfits, safe foods and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. If you delete the app or use Settings > Delete all my data, they are removed.
What leaves your phone, and why
| What | Sent to | Why | Kept? |
|---|---|---|---|
| A plate photo you choose to snap, plus the names of foods you track (so results match) | Our scan service (hosted on Supabase), which passes it to our AI provider (Anthropic) | To list the foods on the plate | No. The photo is processed and discarded. It is not saved by us. |
| A random app ID and a record of when a scan happened | Our scan service | To apply the free weekly scan limit | Scan records are kept for up to 30 days |
| Purchase and subscription status, linked to the random app ID | Apple and RevenueCat (our subscription service) | To process your subscription and unlock Pro | As long as needed to provide the subscription and as required by law |
Our AI provider processes photos only to return the result to the app and does not use API data to train its models by default.
We do not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts or health records. We do not use advertising, analytics trackers or cross-app tracking.
Children
Brave Bites is a tool for parents and caregivers. It is designed to be set up and managed by an adult, and children use it together with a parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children: a child's first name is optional to share with us and is never sent to our servers. Plate photos should show food only; please avoid including faces. If you believe information about a child has reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Payments
Subscriptions and purchases are billed by Apple. We never see your card details. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
Notifications
If you allow them, dinner and trial reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification content is sent through our servers.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: Settings > Delete all my data removes everything stored on your phone and deletes the random app ID and its scan records from our scan service.
- Subscription records: email us and we will delete what we can link to your app ID, except records we must keep by law.
- Residents of California, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and other places with privacy laws have the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Security
Data sent from the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Server access is limited to what the service needs.
Not medical advice
Brave Bites offers general tips for families. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or therapy.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
