Mealcue Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Mealcue is made by ProposalOak ("we", "us"), a meal-planning app for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: your meals and goals stay on your phone, meal photos are sent once to estimate nutrition and are never stored on our servers (a small copy is saved only on your phone so you can see your meals), and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.
What stays on your phone
Your goal, the details you enter to calculate your plan (age, height, weight, target weight, sex, activity), your weight log, your meal logs, water logs, usual meals, small copies of your meal photos, any medication shots and symptoms you choose to log, and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. If you delete the app or use Settings > Delete all my data, they are removed.
What leaves your phone, and why
| What | Sent to | Why | Kept? |
|---|---|---|---|
| A meal photo you choose to scan | Our scan service (hosted on Supabase), which passes it to our AI provider (Anthropic) | To estimate the foods, portions and nutrition | No. The photo is processed and discarded. It is not saved by us. |
| A random app ID and a count of scans per day | Our scan service | To apply the free daily scan limit | Daily counts are kept for up to 30 days |
| A barcode number you scan | Open Food Facts, a free public food database | To look up the product's nutrition | We keep nothing. Open Food Facts receives the request like any website visit. |
| Purchase and subscription status, linked to the random app ID | Apple or Google, and RevenueCat (our subscription service) | To process your subscription and unlock Premium | As long as needed to provide the subscription and as required by law |
Our AI provider processes photos only to return the estimate to the app and does not use API data to train its models by default.
We do not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts or health records. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking.
Payments
Subscriptions are billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings.
Notifications
If you allow them, reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification content is sent through our servers.
Children
Mealcue is designed for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the scan service, contact us and we will delete any related scan counts.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: Settings > Delete all my data removes everything stored on your phone.
- Export your data: Settings > Export my data shares a copy of your logs and goals.
- Scan counts and subscription records: email us with the request and we will delete what we can link to your app ID, except records we must keep by law.
- Residents of California and other places with privacy laws have the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Security
Data sent from the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Server access is limited to what the service needs.
Not medical advice
Nutrition numbers in Mealcue are estimates for planning. They are not medical advice.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
